Todd Anderson is a shy, and introverted character. His parents don't really love him, nor appreciate the achievements he gets. They are are focused on his Older brother, leaving Todd alone. Eventually, through the story, he learns how to be more confident thanks to Neil, standing up for what he believes!
Todd wanted to be separated from everyone, and just (as always) work on homework by himself. Until he met his roommate Neil Perry. Neil Perry got closer and close to Todd, they both became great friends, and both were able to learn from each other. Todd understood the problems Neil was going through and tried to help, and Neil understood Todd.
As Todd learn to be more confident and confident, his main propose becomes to show that he can be better than his older brother, and can finally be someone of his own. But before this happens, Neil dies.
This kills (not literally) Todd. He wants to let people know that it was not the teacher's fault, but it was Neil's parents that cause his death. And at the end, he stands up from Mr. Nolan and lets Mr. Keating know the truth, empowering the others to do the same thing, saluting at Mr. Keating while he leaves.
Todd was one of my favorite characters because, I am an introvert as well. What? Yeap, for some reason I don't know. But point is, I could relate to him every time he didn't want to speak at loud, and found other ways to communicate his passions with the guys by playing music. He sometimes came off as rude, but this was because of all the experiences he went through form his parents.
At the end, things are not going to get any better than this, or perhaps they will! That is up to us to decide. BECAUSE THERE IS NO PART 2!!!
